- Try tightening the cable connections that lead from the PC to your monitor
- If this doesn't work then the flickering is because the backlight bulb is failing
The backlight is a cold cathode fluorescent tube (CCFL tube) powered by a 12V inverter. Rather than junk the whole monitor when it starts flickering, you can buy a new backlight for $10 or less.
Simply replace the old bulb with a new one from Ebay or other LCD parts stores. This should fix your flickering monitor problem cheaply.
